All the arts aspire to the condition of music; Leonardo described Painting & Music as "Sister Arts"
The Spirits of Cezanne, Beethoven, Brahms, and Bruckner channel the creativity of the artist Lesley Deacon. Two harmonious acts of sensation, seeing and hearing being the magnet from which she demonstrates the magic of her vision.
The force I look for is not to mirror nature, but to be absolutely faithful to my sensed impression of colour and form. We know art is the activity of expressing emotions, and I hope my paintings will allow the spectator a sensual, imaginative experience.
As an artist I want to convey a rhythm and mouvement instantly discernible from the simply forms I have chosen to paint; a pot, some fruits coherently placed causing a rythm. Movement, being the flow of these rhythms, allows the spectator a feeling of harmony.
I enjoy painting the Still-life, an ideal subject to contemplate, immobile offering a wealth in colour and form. Painting transcribes the artist's emotions, colour conveys my joyous buoyancy, and often I choose high key colours to evoke the emotions of the viewer
My life is spent in a constant quest for beauty, to capture the charm of nature and to share its wonders with others.
